Our Benefits

We offer a range of benefits to everyone who works at Changing Lives, from generous annual leave and national retail discounts to a variety of wellbeing support. Because we invest in the people we support, and the people who support them.

Our Roles

Every person at Changing Lives, whether working directly with the people we support or in one of our central services, is part of the same team. We exist to support people experiencing homelessness to make positive and lasting change in their lives. That’s what unites us.

I really love my job. It's challenging but by far the most rewarding work I've ever done.
Sharon, Senior Childcare Worker, Doncaster

Our Frontline Services

Our frontline teams work directly alongside the people we support, across housing and accommodation, recovery, women’s services, criminal justice, employment, and more. The work is demanding. It is also some of the most meaningful work you will ever do.

Support Worker

Support Workers are the beating heart of Changing Lives. Day in, day out, they work alongside the people we support, offering practical and emotional support to help them stabilise their situation and build the skills they need to live safe, independent, and fulfilling lives.

Sessional Worker

Sessional Workers do similar work to our support workers but on a more flexible basis. If you want to make a difference without committing to a fixed working pattern, this role gives you the flexibility to pick up shifts that work for you.

Project Lead

Project Leads make sure our services have the greatest possible impact on the people who use them, while ensuring staff are fully supported to deliver excellent work. The role spans everything from finance and staffing to training and health and safety, across services that include accommodation, recovery centres, women’s refuges, and more.

I really enjoy and feel proud to work for Changing Lives. I strongly believe Changing Lives stand for what they are and strive to make a difference in people's lives.

Lakhbir, Women's Services Senior Programme Facilitator, West Midlands

Our Support Services

Behind every frontline team is a network of people keeping things running. Our central services, covering IT, finance, people services, fundraising, communications, business development, and more, exist so our frontline colleagues can focus on the people they support. Most of these roles are based at our head office in Gateshead, with flexible working to help you find the right balance.

Our Volunteers

Volunteering at Changing Lives is a genuine way to support people experiencing homelessness and be part of something that matters. Whether you want to give back to your community, gain experience, or simply offer your time to an organisation that has spent over 55 years making a difference, there's a role to suit you and your schedule.

What we're Looking For

We're not looking for one type of person. We're looking for people who care, who listen, and who believe that with the right support, anyone can make positive and lasting change. Whatever your background or experience, if that sounds like you, we want to hear from you.

Those qualities sit at the heart of our PEOPLE Promise, the set of values that guide how everyone at Changing Lives shows up for the people we work with and for each other:

Passionate

We are passionate about delivering caring, enthusiastic, and inspiring support

Empowering

We empower people to make effective changes, take on challenges, and pursue their goals

Opportunity

We pro-actively seek and provide opportunities for people to develop and make positive changes in their lives

Positivity

We strongly believe that with the right support, everyone can lead a positive and fulfilling life

Listening

We actively listen and seek views so that we can deliver high quality services for the people who need us

Equality

We respect and actively promote an environment that is inclusive to all and non-discriminatory.

One in five of our staff joined Changing Lives having previously used services like ours. That lived experience is fundamental to who we are and how we work. Our ambition is to have someone with lived experience in every team and at every meeting. If that’s part of your story, we actively encourage you to apply.

If you don’t see a vacancy that’s right for you, we’d still like to hear from you. Register your interest with our recruitment team:
