Christmas Appeal Stories

Here are just a handful of stories of where your kind donations were used in our services last year.

The Difference You Made

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, our Christmas Meal Appeal has made a meaningful difference to the lives of people facing homelessness, poverty and disadvantage. These case studies highlight the real impact of your support, providing not just meals, but essential items, practical support and a sense of hope during a difficult time of year.

Each story reflects how your donations have helped individuals and families feel supported, valued and better equipped to move forward.

“We used the Christmas Funding to bring all of our young people together at Christmas to help celebrate the season. It enabled us to provide Christmas themed meals across the festive period, something which they wouldn’t have been able to afford on their own.”- Changing Lives Supported Accommodation- Newcastle

“The Christmas Meal Funding enabled us to provide hot meals each weekend over the winter to our service users, to help alleviate the pressure caused by the continued cost of living crisis our vulnerable adults face daily. This funding meant 22 people who we support facing homelessness could continue to pay for heating and rent as they didn’t have to pay for at least one or two hot meals per week. By ensuring that someone feels safe and secure in their own home, it allows them in time to become an active member of the community which benefits everyone in the local area.” -Changing Lives Supported Accommodation- Ashington

“We used the Christmas Meal donations to purchase food items and cooking equipment to provide cooking sessions for young people and to be able to have a wider range of sessions. This helped the young people to be able to develop their cooking skills with more quality and extensive ingredients.”- Changing Lives Supported Accommodation- Gateshead

“We used the funding to provide a breakfast club once per week to help ensure young people have access to food before they go about there day.

We also used the funding to do BBQs in our large outdoor space when the weather was nice. This activity brought everyone together in a communal outdoor space and allowed people to mingle and socialise while also providing food.” – Changing Lives Supported Accommodation- Sunderland

“We support over 50 people including families and children and have an internal food bank to provide food parcels for the people we support throughout the year. The Christmas Meal Funding enabled us keep the food bank stocked up throughout the year. It bought items such as pasta, tinned food, long life milk, cereals, noodles. We try and buy as much long-life food as possible, so it lasts longer.”- Changing Lives Supported Accommodation- Newcastle

“We used the Christmas Meal Funding to provide various communal meals for over Christmas. We also provided Christmas Hampers to help bring the Christmas spirit to our project and a bit more joy to our residents, who are in emotional turmoil and don’t all have support from their families.”- Changing Lives Supported Accommodation- Sunderland

“This food is used to make up food parcels for the people we support instead of using the local food banks, this takes the pressure from the food banks as they are in great demand at the moment. We gave out food stamps to fostered some ownership of what they had to eat and helped them to be able to plan meals instead of having to make do with what they are given, in turn helping them to plan on a budget.” – Changing Lives Supported Accommodation- South Shields
