Introduction to Service

The Rhea Project is dedicated to providing support and resources to empower survivors of domestic abuse, fostering a safe and nurturing environment for individuals and families to rebuild their lives free from harm.

There are two elements to The Rhea Project.

Our South Tyneside Safer Accommodation: Offering dispersed safe accommodation in South Shields, Jarrow, and Hebburn. These properties provide a secure, anonymous living environment where individuals can receive tailored support from our Domestic Abuse Practitioners and Housing Management Team while maintaining their independence. Residents of STSA will receive comprehensive support to help them transition to safe, successful, and independent lives.

South Tyneside Safer Relationships Outreach: Formerly known as CDAS, the STSR Service is an Outreach Service for those in South Tyneside needing domestic abuse support. This service assists those who may need to move homes or require support to stay safely in their current residences.

We provide appropriate referrals to recovery and educational programs and offer one-on-one education about healthy relationships and general support to ensure victims remain safe within their communities. Clients can receive support from the STSR Service for up to 12 months.

Additionally, we have qualified IDVA (Independent Domestic Violence Advisors) and ISVA (Independent Sexual Violence Advisors) staff available to offer advice and support to external agencies and the public.
